ABOUT

Ian James Ortiz is a New York City-based screenwriter, producer and director who has worked on numerous independent film projects including web series, short films, music videos and features. He co-produced the independent feature film "Jesus H. Heist", which was an Official Selection at The Madrid International Film Festival, The Chain NYC Film Festival, and most recently, The San Diego Black Film Festival, nominated for Best Comedy at two of the festivals. After moving to New York City nine and a half years ago to pursue a career in film, Ian quickly fell in love with the art of screenwriting. While producing has been his main role thus far, most recently, Ian decided to return to the first script he ever wrote and make his directorial film debut with The Villager, a crime-noir short-film released last year. The Villager has premiered in several festivals throughout the US so far, winning awards at both Worldfest-Houston and The Manhattan Film Festival.

A corrupt businessman in search of a new life, falls for an ambitious, witty mid-westerner who suddenly inspires him and makes him want to change even more. It's not long, however, before he discovers their circles are closer than he initially thought or hoped. Will she be his way out or his downfall?
